"I thought this book was going to be another throwaway classic for me, due to the whole younger woman an older man, typical overdone scenario. My expectations were definitely wrong, this was actually really good. Very atmospheric, lots of internal ruminations you’re let in on, so much unsaid throughout the book. By the time I was halfway through the book, I desperately wanted to continue until I got to the end, ignoring everything else that needed my attention in my life, lol."

"Young woman meets dashing older man. They fall in love, get married and return to his estate, Manderley. Young woman — shy and prone to disappearing in the wallpaper — must compete with a dead rival, the man’s first wife, Rebecca. Nasty housekeeper Mrs Danvers quietly tortures wife 2 with how perfect wife 1 was. A lie. Wife 2 is the narrator, but we never hear her name, an indignity underscoring her ongoing unimportance. Instead she is called Mrs de Winter, the same as her predecessor. Suspense builds as the story progresses, and while I anticipated the final scene, it was not enough for me."
"Incredible. A fav👍"

"I liked this story more than I thought I would but it was probably twice as long as it needed to be. It went through people's complete conversations of the whole day and on and on about the same thing. I will admit the story was creepy and when I learned about the main protagonist name it made it even worse. The book gave me a wretched feeling the way everyone treated and compared her too Rebecca. I got tired if it quick but from experience it is how you fell when you are the second woman. Always comparing wondering if you can live up to people's expectations. It was a good read but that ending was so drawn out and honestly didn't make much sense to me."
