*INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER*Trailblazing pop star, actor and director, Hayley Kiyoko debuts her first novel, a coming-of-age romance based on her breakthrough hit song and viral video, GIRLS LIKE GIRLS.It’s summertime and 17-year-old Coley has found herself alone, again. Forced to move to rural Oregon after just losing her mother, she is in no position to risk her already fragile heart. But when she meets Sonya, the attraction is immediate.Coley worries she isn't worthy of love. Up until now, everyone she's loved has left her. And Sonya's never been with a girl before. What if she's too afraid to show up for Coley? What if by opening her heart, Coley's risking it all? They both realize that when things are pushed down, and feelings are forced to shrivel away, Coley and Sonya will be the ones to shrink. It’s not until they accept the love they fear and deserve most, that suddenly the song makes sense. Based on the billboard-charting smash hit song and viral music video GIRLS LIKE GIRLS, Hayley Kiyoko's debut novel is about embracing your truth and realizing we are all worthy of being loved back.

"So much nostalgia from reading this. It reminded me so much of me and my first ever girl crush watching Hayley's video in 2014. Thank you for blessing all the wlw with this book."

"There are no words to describe this book. OH MY GOD. Lesbian Jesus really came through here. This book was everything I expected and more, there was BEAUTIFULLY written romance, there was friendship and abusive relationships, there was homophobia and trauma that felt real and emotional, and the trauma was addressed and discussed and come to terms with instead of ignored and erased. Must read for EVERYONE."

"This book really captures that feeling of not feeling worthy of love and being scared to be who you are as a queer teen, and it really made me feel seen. I 100% recommend giving it a read to anyone who related to that"

"I really enjoyed this book! It’s all over the place (in a good way). There is so much going on. It represents what some people go through while trying to find themselves. The song it was based on is really good as well. "

"I’m really struggling with deciding what to rate this one right now but for now I’m going with 4 stars? The beginning of the book was very slow but once I got into it, I didn’t want to put it down! My main issue is that I really hated Sonya about 95% of the book and I had such a hard time rooting for Coley & Sonya to end up together even though I knew I was supposed to. Like my favorite parts of the book were when Sonya was at dance camp and Coley was able to start loving herself and trusting her dad and finding new friends. I kind of feel the same way I did about the movie Happiest Season, like I loved it but Sonya was Harper and Coley was Abby and both Coley & Abby deserved so much better than Sonya & Harper? And like a lot of the reason Sonya was the way she is makes sense and I felt bad for her but she was still ultimately awful? I don’t know, the four stars is mainly because I love Coley and she deserves the world"

"Giving this a 5/5 simply because it’s Hayley/GLG related and honestly I cried and if I do that then it’s basically an automatic 5/5 for me.
But truthfully this is more of a 4.5/5 for me. Loved the book and the amount of work Hayley put into it, shows. From the details of the book cover, end pages, narrators AND sound effects in the audio book (more people need to do the latter honestly), this book is a labor of love.
The main gripe I have with the book is, I just didn’t really buy Sonya & Coley as a good pairing. I loved them in the music video, but were only seeing a 5 min portrayal of them in that vs a 300 page one. We learn more about both of that. I loved Coley’s backstory and to a degree Sonya’s. I just ultimately thought that Coley was too good for Sonya. We know she ended up with Sonya because we’ve seen the music video. But this story is so much more than that. I can’t really bash Sonya’s actions, because I get them. Maybe this book could have been 50 pages more so the ending (which we know and love from the video) isn’t as rushed?
All in all though, I loved this book and someone give Hayley a chance to make this a movie already. Or perhaps a book on Gravel to Tempo next?"
