AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! From Jason June, author of the breakout teen debut novel Jay’s Gay Agenda, comes Out of the Blue, a stand-alone dual POV queer rom-com that asks if love is enough to change everything you’ve grown up believing. Perfect for fans of Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas and Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly. Crest is not excited to be on their Journey: the month-long sojourn on land all teen merfolk must undergo. The rules are simple: Help a human within one moon cycle and return to Pacifica to become an Elder—or fail and remain stuck on land forever. Crest is eager to get their Journey over and done with. Humans are disgusting. They’ve polluted the planet so much that there’s a floating island of trash that’s literally the size of a country. In Los Angeles with a human body and a new name, Crest meets Sean, a human lifeguard whose boyfriend has recently dumped him. Crest agrees to help Sean make his ex jealous and win him back. But as the two spend more time together, and Crest’s perspective on humans begins to change, they’ll soon be torn between two worlds. And fake dating just might lead to real feelings . . .This sophomore novel from Jason June dives into the many definitions of the word home and shows how love can help us find the truest versions of ourselves.

"I can’t say my opinion of this book is valid, seeing as I DNFed just barely after page 20, but maybe I’ll pick it back up in the future :/"

"First off, Amazing book! And, let me explain why. Now, I'm a very critical reader, from start to finish of most books I read. Especially for ones that play off the concept or narrative of a story that has been done before. This one being close to the "The Little Mermaid", in some ways, but the characters goals throughout the story, DIFFERENT in all the opposite ways. This book really kept me on my toes, as I usually come up with scenarios of what could happen next. And those thoughts usually to inference what is to come. But the wonderful thing that Jason does is voice those during the story through the character. To make me think they are going to happen, and then bring up another possibility. So I never get bored or upset about what's going to happen. And in this book there are so many Clichés that are deconstructed, until he delivers the realistic ending, in the end. This story/book is so good and heart-wrenching that makes everything so sweet. And makes the fantasy of the story feel realistic and makes a connection with the reader. This book is so Amazing and fantastic, It's definitely a must have! So many books say "#1 BEST SELLER", and maybe for some books on a specific day truly are the best seller of that day. But this book in my opinion is one of the best. If not in sales, then definitely in storytelling and literature."

"Very fun read! I like it but the ending made me upset, i know that it’s like realistic (in a fantasy world where mermaids exist) but also it’s sad!"

"The book started out well, but then it was just ***** and I didn't like the ending. Like half the book was just about the merperson discovering hormones and their human body, wasn't what I was expecting whatsoever but doesn't mean it was entirely bad. "
