"My absolute favorite Studio Ghibli movie!! It amazes me how despite WOTH being a reality-based story (unlike most of the fantasy/ magical realism that is the majority of Studio Ghibli films) that it still has this magical feeling. The mundane can be special. Also, as a writer Shizuku’s journey is so relatable. I feel that the premise of finding personal satisfaction over meeting expectations is something I struggle with that was written perfectly into a story. Hayao Miyazaki was not the director, but did do the art and screenplay. This movie is seriously underrated."
