"This show blow my mind! An amazing family drama with the backdrop of a cursed house. There’s one episode that was done in one shot and I think I creamed when I saw it..I’ve never seen anyone do that on a tv show before. You will most likely binge this show because it’s so engrossing, I watched it in one night I was so hooked. "
"Great show wish they would come out with another season"

"I really loved this reimagining of the original 1960’s the haunting with Julie Harris. A great old classic."

"wow, that ending STUNK.
i was surprised how much i enjoyed this series, at first. i'd read the book and watched the '60's movie, and am a hardcore eleanor/theo shipper. it was a major turn-off to realize they'd been recast here as siblings.
finally, however, i got over it enough to gie it a try. (mostly i just needed everyone to stop talking about it). and the beginning was surprisingly good! the middle was even better! but that ending... woof.
spoilers ahead:
there's severe tonal whiplash after all the toxicity between the characters. suddenly everything works out just fine. after all the manipulation and hallucinations, suddenly the house can be reasoned with? suddenly the ghosts have individual opinions instead of being puppets the house can send out to draw in more victims, Dionaea-House-style? there's all this talk of digestion and yet..
i wanted a tonally consistent ending, i guess. either it eats the whole family (poppy just knocking them out felt like a cheat), or they literally fight their way out of that house with everything they have. the fundamental selfishness of this family to allow the house to remain standing, to inevitably eat more people in generations to come, ****** me off more than anything. sure, luke tried burning it down, but if it were me i'd come back with a rocket launcher. molotov cocktails i'd throw through a window. flamethrowers. a bulldozer. just because hill house ate their parents and the dudley family is no reason to enable it. the ending was so syrupy!
one more nitpick: during the second meeting between theo and her love interest, i turned to my girlfriend and quipped, "hey asian character, listen to my trauma-dumping and then shut up and satisfy my white sexual needs."
ok, enough complaining. stuff i did like:
-the red room modifying itself to entice them to spend more time in it.
-the extremely messy characters and the diversity of their problems.
-the camerawork, especially with the tracking shots!
-a lot of the earlier scares, with the creeping dread and primal fear.
-the child actors are excellent! honestly the acting in general was pretty good."
