The Promised Neverland
Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Action & Adventure
Surrounded by a forest and a gated entrance, the Grace Field House is inhabited by orphans happily living together as one big family, looked after by their "Mama," Isabella. Although they are required to take tests daily, the children are free to spend their time as they see fit, usually playing outside, as long as they do not venture too far from the orphanage — a rule they are expected to follow no matter what. However, all good times must come to an end, as every few months, a child is adopted and sent to live with their new family... never to be heard from again. However, the three oldest siblings have their suspicions about what is actually happening at the orphanage, and they are about to discover the cruel fate that awaits the children living at Grace Field, including the twisted nature of their beloved Mama.

"This is a fascinating case of child torture and child snuff, fascinating in the way that it got very popular and then came out with an awful second season. I really like the manga and cannot stress that if you're interested in the first season at all you will be interested in the manga. But oh man that this anime just mess the bed. You miss so much in the second season that is explained in the manga. And I guess I just got really tired of seeing all the child torture. I'm usually one to look for gory animes but this one just felt mean-spirited and not in the way of a gory anime but in a way of "this is the creator's poorly disguised fetish" kind of material."
"This idea is nuts! This one keeps me invested. It drags a little in season 2; but ultimately, it’s a good anime! Go ahead and add it to your list. "

"Promised Neverland is a fascinating case of the difference between a first season and second. The first season is absolutely brilliant with a very real sense of threat, highly intelligent (but vulnerable, and even relatable) kids, and a pacing that never lingers. Season 2...takes everything good about the first and throws it down a mineshaft. Then blows it up. I normally hate anime that are free trials for the manga, but even I can make exceptions and it starts here. Season 2 is NOT worth it. "
"First season I’d give 5 stars, but season 2 I’d give 1...so 3 it is. "
"This anime is very dark, but it has cute moments. I think im okay with how season 1 ended and will not be watching season 2 but if you're into horror, it's a good watch"
