"Young Jude and her sisters are ripped from their ordinary, happy life when there parents are murdered in front of them. With no where else to go the sisters are introduced to the supernatural world they could only imagine. Now grown, Jude must fight to fit in the only world she now knows along the mortal-hating-fae. Among them the royal fae whom nothing makes him happier than to watch Jude suffer. Amazing audiobook read, found a good book to obsess upon!"
"as someone who strays away from fantasy, i was cautious picking this book up, but I was surprised. I was surprised (1) by its ability to get me out of my reading slump, (2) by its gripping political storyline that was neither juvenile nor mismanaged to a point that makes the female mc unbearable, and (3) by a romantic plot line that was not diminished to a ****-like nature or portrayed in an acotar sense. Only drawback was an occasional creeping sense that there could have been more plot and better character motivation (though the latter may be resolved in future books). Overall, a solid 8/10, look forward to the wicked king."
"Ok I don't know how to feel about this book I like the world and even most of the characters but I don't know how to feel about jude and Cardan like I'm all for enemies to lovers but I don't know about Cardan caz he's a straight up bully like some of the things he did to jude are just messed up and I don't think I ship I'm going to continue the series and maby I'll change my mind but right now I don't like this romance. "One of BookTok's most popular YA Fantasy Book Series, The Cruel Prince, is an extraordinary tale. The first book in The Folk Of Air Series, The Cruel Prince, was a fun read with many moments that had me at the edge of my seat. The main character Jude Durate was a breath of fresh air that I enjoyed reading about. She was a great character to root for and had great motivations and relatable struggles. The slow-burn romance was an excellent subplot addition to the book. With great side characters and a beautifully written plot, this book is excellent for beginning fantasy readers. However, the world-building in this first book was a little shaky and hard to understand at times. But other than that, this book was excellent. I am excited to read the next two. I rate this book a 4.5/5. (Follow For More Reviews, this app only) @shislay16 "
" Definitely felt like YA writing and dialogue at some points in was a little cringe but still couldn't put it down I just wanted to know what was going to happen the atmosphere was fun along with all charters the magical fae culture was so interesting also I have never felt so much hate for a character more then in this book Taryn better get wrecked in the next book I'm excited go continue with the rest of series "
"One of my favorite series. Holly Black is so good at making fairy lore feel real and grounded. Jude Duarte is one of the most badass FMC I have ever read. She arcs into something to be feared. And the MMC starts at an almost irredeemable level and arcs charmingly into something else. I love every book, each time I reread the series I label a different one as my favorite. You don’t want to sleep on this one. "
