"I rated The Last One at the Wedding by Jason Rekulak 4 stars. From the start, I was completely hooked—it's one of those books that pulls you in immediately. The story is intriguing, full of twists and secrets that keep you guessing. Frank, the main character, is incredibly consistent. His unwavering determination to uncover the truth and his journey of self-discovery are compelling. One of the most enjoyable parts of the book is seeing how Frank describes Abigail, and how their bond develops after the major events in the book. After not wanting the little girl around (their interaction is very funny) he will be faced the choice to protect her or staying quiet to ensure his own daughter’s safety.
The relationships and dynamics in the book are authentic, and I really appreciated how the author took time to flesh out each character's backstory, especially Maggie’s. Frank's reflections on her upbringing help form a clearer picture of her personality and motivations. The revelations and twists as the book progresses are engaging, making it an emotional and thoughtful read.
However, I have to mention that the ending felt rushed. Given how detailed and carefully crafted each chapter was throughout the book, the final chapter seemed to skip over important details. The pacing in the last part felt off, and I wished the conclusion had more depth to match the rest of the story. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed every page up until that point, and the story as a whole is definitely worth reading."
"Good read, just anticlimactic "
