Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen-all of them-and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood-the blood of Olympus-in order to wake. The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it might be able to stop a war between the two camps. The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

"This final book of the Heroes of Olympus series, was honestly everything that I needed it to be. There was no point where I feel like he storyline was dragging. I wanted to keep reading throughout the adventure. The growth of the characters from start to finish was amazing because it truly tied together everything that we read in the first 4 books. Although it is still following two quests at the same time, the way that the storytelling made you fee, the importance of both quests is probably the best in this last book. I enjoyed how the monsters continued making appearances in this book and you can really see how many enemies they made along the way. I think it’s important to note that a lot of the monsters or even the minor gods have had bad run ins with demi-gods and heroes and the characters do a really great job at showing the positive aspects of heroes.
It was a very refreshing read, I enjoyed the small jokes. Although the characters developed throughout, each character stayed true to self. All of their actions and thought processes rang completely true to who they were.
The ending was everything I wished for it to be! The final battle was full of questions or how it would end and where it would go. Being the last book, you knew it had to end but reading and seeing how they capped off the series was exactly what was needed for these characters and storyline. There are twists, turns, and cliffhangers that I feel like will be explored in the other books outside the series (that’s how he keeps you wanting more). But I was very happy with the way this book came out! We learned more about the more minor characters, the gods, and what makes them all tick. I have no complaints for this book! If you love Greek mythology, I highly recommend picking this series up! This is definitely one of my favorites out the series!"
"It’s a good book overall, but was rushed to make an ending to the series"
