"REWATCH: I do love this movie, but I forgot how melodramatic the acting is at times in it. Cruise, Edwards, Ryan, and Kilmer are the only sincere performances in this film; the rest feel very soap opera-esque. Don’t get me wrong. The other performances aren’t bad, they just aren’t believable. Something also unbelievable is Charlie and Maverick’s romance. They have the weirdest chemistry I’ve ever seen in a movie. Sometimes it’s there, sometimes it’s not. It didn’t help that their relationship went zero to hundred in a millisecond. One minute they’re flirting the next they’re head over heels in love??? There was no build up! Plus, their big kiss in the movie did them no favors. It looked like they were trying to eat each other’s faces. I know it doesn’t sound like it, but I do really love this movie. It’s so quotable, the action sequences are intense, and I always get choked up when I think about Goose."

"Just watched this for the first time since being an adult. And this film still holds up pretty well. This has that good 80’s cheese all over it. The Top Gun theme song “Take My Breath Away” and “Danger Zone” is played so many times through the film but their such great songs it never gets old. I only saw this when I was a child and it use to come on HBO cable all the time.For a 1986 film the special effects are still fairly good. I don’t think I’ve seen Val Kilmer in a film in such a long time but him and Tom Cruise play well off each other. Didn’t realize how old Top Gun was but it’s a 80’s classic."

"I admit it, Top Gun is one of my favorite films. The flying stunts alone make it worthwhile. Add the soundtrack, testosterone filled competitions in and out of the Jets ( for the guys), and love story( for the girls) and it's just an all-around great movie to watch with the speakers blasting."
