"I love the Hunger Games, the story was so intriguing and yet sad seeing how they use children for their entertainment in a totally different world that we live in. Remind of the Roman Gladiators that have to fight for their life’s. Using children is just barbaric. This was not a book I read during school, I bought it at a thrift shop without its dust cover and decided to read it and love it. The other books I bought it. I am a total fan of the books. This book came out when I was an adult."

"It's actually 3.5 stars but I rounded up. I will say I did see the movies before reading the books, like way before. And I feel like even though it's been a few years since I seen them, it kind of "ruined" the book experience in my opinion. Another thing is that the dystopian genre isn't my favorite, I don't know what it is with it but I just can't seem to get truly invested. But I really did love reading Katniss's thoughts throughout the games, it added more to her character. Peeta was actually kind of funny and felt more of a developed character than Katniss, he seemed more in tune with things, even though he almost died a couple of times lol. I will say the descriptions of the tributes deaths were a great addition, I like how the author didn't sensor anything or make Katniss always look away. Haymitch was great, and I honestly think they casted the perfect actor for the movie. I liked how it gave more backstory for katniss and her family, instead of us just guessing what happened to them(like me during the movie with her flashbacks or hallucinations about her mom and dad). I took longer to read this than I wanted to but oh well lol. Will I be reading the next ones? Sure. Will I enjoy them more? Hopefully."

I never felt confused and recommend this for readers of all ages interested in a fast-moving novel with a survival, romance, and political feel. Each character is written with care and the book adds a great amount of understanding to the plot, even if you've seen the movies already. I will note that this book moves extremely quickly - there is little fluff or text describing the setting. If you have a good imagination and dislike filler, this is for you."
